Andrej Godina: Coffee chain journey

“Among the commodities consumed every day, coffee is the one produced the furthest away.”

Andrej is a professional taster and co-owner of a coffee plantation in Honduras. In this episode of Behind Your Coffee, he talks about where coffee beans are produced, how they’re harvested and then travel to the countries of production where they are roasted and transformed into the perfect coffee experience.

The episode
Farmers on plantations have a constant stream of activities to take care of all year round, such as pruning and fertilizing. And once every 12 months, the beans are harvested in a process that can take anywhere between 4 and 5 months and involves an army of harvesters that collect the ripe cherries. The beans then travel to the countries of production where, through with the roasting process, they are transformed chemically and physically into the world’s most consumed drink.
