Aan de andere kant zijn luchtontvochtigers specifiek gericht op het verlagen van het vochtniveau, zonder de temperatuur te verlagen. Als je hoofdzakelijk last hebt van een hoge luchtvochtigheid, dan is een luchtontvochtiger de ideale keuze. In een warm en vochtig klimaat kan een airconditioner met ontvochtigingsfuncties echter een totaaloplossing vormen.
