Cos'è un condizionatore portatile? Come funziona?

I condizionatori mobili sono dispositivi autonomi per il raffreddamento di aree o stanze specifiche. Sono composti da un compressore, un condensatore, un evaporatore e un ventilatore. Funzionano aspirando l'aria calda dall'ambiente, raffreddandola attraverso il circuito di raffreddamento e rilasciando l'aria fredda nell'ambiente. L'aria calda viene solitamente scaricata attraverso un tubo di scarico che può essere posizionato vicino a una finestra o a un'altra apertura adatta.

Come scegliere un condizionatore portatile

Nella scelta di un condizionatore portatile si devono considerare diversi fattori. Il punto di partenza è la capacità di raffreddamento (misurata in BTU o kW), che dovrebbe sempre corrispondere alle dimensioni della stanza da raffreddare. Altri fattori sono l'efficienza energetica, il livello di rumorosità, le funzioni aggiuntive come i timer programmabili e il telecomando, nonché la qualità costruttiva e l'affidabilità dell'unità. Alcuni condizionatori portatili sono anche dotati di funzioni aggiuntive come il riscaldamento e la deumidificazione. Het koelvermogen wordt gemeten in BTU’s (British Thermal Units) of in kiloWatt. Als algemene richtlijn moet de keuze van BTU’s en kW’s voornamelijk gebaseerd zijn op de grootte van de ruimte: hogere BTU-waarden en hogere kW’s voor grotere ruimtes en lagere waarden voor kleinere ruimtes. Het is echter belangrijk om op te merken dat andere factoren, zoals isolatie en warmtebronnen, de koelvereisten kunnen beïnvloeden.
Voor ruimtes tot 85m3 kun je een element kiezen met ongeveer 9000 BTU of 2 - 2,5 kW. Voor grotere ruimtes, tot 100 m3, kun je beter kiezen voor eenheden van 9000 tot 12000 BTU (2,6 tot 3 kW). Sommige krachtige De'Longhi-apparaten hebben een vermogen tot 13000 BTU (3,3 kW) en zijn geschikt voor ruimtes groter dan 120m3.

Heating Function and Dehumidification Function

The dehumidification function helps to remove excess moisture from the air, improving comfort and reducing the risk of mould growth. This function can be used, for example, in a very humid room or at certain times of the year when the humidity is particularly high. The heating function, available on the De'Longhi PAC EL92HP, allows the appliance to provide warmth during the colder months, making it a versatile appliance that can be used all year round.

Energy Consumption

Portable air conditioners are usually labelled with an energy efficiency rating that indicates their energy saving capabilities and helps users make informed choices about their efficiency. In Europe, the energy efficiency of portable air conditioners is usually indicated by the European Energy Efficiency Certificate. This certificate uses a scale from A+++ (most efficient) to D (least efficient). Countries such as the United States and Australia use their own energy labelling systems, such as the Energy Star rating and the Energy Rating Label respectively. Choosing models with higher energy efficiency ratings can help minimise electricity costs and reduce the environmental impact of their use.

How to Install an Air Conditioner with external hose?

Installing a portable air conditioner with an external hose is really simple: the exhaust hose must be properly connected to the unit and directed towards a suitable window or ventilation opening. Setting up the unit involves securing the hose in place and ensuring a good seal to prevent hot air from entering the room.
First select a suitable location for the portable air conditioner near a window or door and place the unit on a flat, stable surface, preferably near a power outlet.
Then attach the exhaust hose to the back of the air conditioner (it usually fits into a designated outlet or port) and extend the hose towards the window or door.
Then connect the other end of the hose to the window ventilation kit supplied with the unit.
